Night Time Dream Tea

Hello!

Today I have one of my favourite recipes to share with you- a night time tea blend that relaxes mind and body and induces vivid dreams.

This tea is made with chamomile and rose petals to calm the body and soothe the mind, mugwort to induce vivid dreams, and hibiscus for a gorgeous colour and a deliciously tart, fruity taste.

I use this tea to help me with my intuitive dream practice. I like to keep a journal by my bedside table so that as soon as I wake up I can record the events of my dreams and try to interpret them. I find that this helps me understand what is going on in my mind and my life, and makes me feel more connected to myself.

Mugwort is a powerful herb and should be treated with caution and respect. If you have never tried this type of dream practice, I would recommend using only half of the herb given in the recipe. You should also avoid mugwort if you are pregnant as it is a uterine tonic and can cause contractions.

I like to make this recipe about 30 minutes before sleep time, and drink it in bed while I read a bit or do some journalling.

Recipe…

  • 1 tablespoon chamomile flowers
  • 2 teaspoons rose petals
  • 1 heaping teaspoon mugwort (mugwort can be quite bitter so you don’t want to overdo it!)
  • 2 teaspoons hibiscus flowers

Bring 2 cups of water to a boil on the stove, then add your loose herbs (I like to put mine in a reusable muslin bag or a tea strainer), then allow to boil for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and pour into your favourite mug. Sip slowly and start to pay attention to the release in tension from your mind and body.

Hope you enjoy!
